E&S Risk Management Framework, Private Bank

Working with a European Development Finance Institute and a leading Costa Rican private bank, to develop, implement and provide capacity building for an investment risk management framework and associated risk screening and due diligence audit tools, to assess environmental and social risks of agricultural business investments in Costa Rica, such as pineapple. The risk management framework included policy development (aligned with DFI performance standards), setting goals and objectives, establishing responsibilities, capacity building amongst the bank's investment team, risk screening procedures and materiality triggers, and internal audit and assurance processes, as well as prompts to engage external specialists where complex risks were identified.
