Airport Privatisation Due Diligence
Pre-privatisation financing environmental and social due diligence for two major US airports.
For a leading European infrastructure operating company bidding for the operation of two major US airports, reviewing environmental risks and social risks (community noise and nuisance impact, local pressure groups), identifying and understanding critical risks, and establishing timelines and expenditure programmes for future mitigation and management, for the life of the proposed financing term. Post-successful bidding, follow-up due diligence reviews carried out for re-financing, reviewing progress of mitigation actions for previously identified key risks. Key risks as part of these due diligence audits included remediation of soil and groundwater contamination from subterranean refuelling systems, noise impacts to local communities and local wildlife habitats, transport impacts from airport expansion, and asbestos risks from old derelict hangars and terminal buildings.
